About the product
It is being cultivated since ancient times as an ornamental plant and as a spice. It is also used for its pharmaceutical properties. Ancient Egyptians were using it as a pharmaceutical plant. Ancient Syrians produced a perfume “Amarakinon”, which was supposed to have such a strong scent that it caused headaches. Maybe that is the reason that in the principles of Homeopathy its concoction is used to fight headaches. It is well known that vocalists of all eras drunk a concoction of marjoram mixed with honey to contain their voice. Marjoram etymologically is a Greek word that means happiness on the mountain.
Its parts grown above the ground contain ethereal oil and tannins. It is an exceptionally antiseptic, diuretic, expectorant, antispasmodic and appetizing plant.
A concoction produced by its upper plants is used as a sedative against chest aches. It also helps soothing otitis pains. The poultice of the upper parts of marjoram is beneficial for the liver. A few drops of its ethereal oil in bath act soothingly .
It is very important that sensible quantities of the concoction should be used because an overdose or overuse is dangerous for the liver.
